Artist paints portrait of Mark Zuckerberg using own faeces

An artist has painted a portrait of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg using his own faeces as part of an exhibition examining the influence of technology on our lives

A portrait of Mark Zuckerberg painted from human faeces is being exhibited in New York as part of an exhibition commenting on technology¡¯s effects upon humanity.

The painting, which is surrounded by pulsing neon lights, is part of the Remember the Future exhibition which opened at The Hole gallery this month.

It¡¯s not the first time Brooklyn-based artist KATSU has targeted the Facebook founder. In 2013 he plastered the streets of New York with posters of Zuckerberg photoshopped with a black eye and chipped tooth.

"Mark is Mark. He¡¯s this mutation, this gross aspiration everyone idolises. His face has reach. He deserves to be ridiculed," the artist told Gizmodo at the time. "There are some that are fighting to protect privacy, anonymity and freedom and those who are trying to control, monitor and make profits. I want to let people know my beliefs."

KATSU has also used images of former Apple chief executive in his work, pasting posters of Jobs over phone booths throughout 2011.

Remember the Future aims to explore "the bizarre interchange between our influence on technology and its influence on us", as "technology seems to grow exponentially while human understanding, emotion, intelligence, spirituality or capacity in general inches along logarithmically at best," according to the gallery.

Other works within the exhibition include 3D printed handguns, enamel splattered canvasses painted by drone, and oil paintings of the Terminator¡¯s android taking selfies at global tourist destinations.
